Born in Lewiston, Maine, Denis is self taught and has been painting since the tender age of nine. With great inspiration from Andrew Wyeth and unrelenting encouragement from friends and peers, it wasn't until 1994 that he became serious about his work. His previous lifestyle and commitments had always prevented him from exploring a hidden talent that is now, uncompromised. Always testing himself with different mediums his comfort zone became more apparent with watercolors. Enjoying the reaction of watercolor and paper his artistic instincts became more refined and true to his form. Currently residing in Auburn, Maine his distinctive style is unsurpassable and can best be achieved in his studio. From land to shore, New England scenery inspires his masterful talent as he continues to paint very distinctive award winning paintings. His expressions and composition remain true to his signature as he continues to create a selection of master pieces.

Her paintings have been exhibited at the Silvermine Annual Art of the Northeast Show, the Mamaroneck Artists Guild, the Northern Westchester Watercolor Society Shows, the Oresman Gallery and other local exhibits. She has been involved as a volunteer in many local art programs which are dedicated to helping young artists. The watercolors in this exhibit represent the work of several years and exemplify the artist's interest in the versatility of the medium. The possibilities of the various techniques have provided an ongoing challenge in portraying her favorite subjects – people, flowers and landscapes.

What is an OMI?

An OMI is a unique jewel, made by fusing various rare and beautiful glasses. Each piece goes through four to eight firings, with new glass added at every stage. The piece might be re-cut, ground and re-sheped between firings. During each firing, the glass is cooked for 3-4 hours at temperatures up to 2000 degrees, then cooled for three hours. By layering diachronic glass, clear glass and silver wire, a remarkable depth and brilliance is achieved, creating a holographic effect. Every piece is handmade by the artist, Lise, in her Connecticut studio.
